US Senate reaches partial deal to end government shutdownU.S. senators have reached a partial agreement to end the government shutdown, Politico reported, citing multiple sources. The deal was reportedly struck between Senators Angus King, Jeanne Shaheen, and Maggie Hassan and a group of Republican senators. Under the agreement, the Senate is set to vote on a temporary spending bill that passed the House on Sunday, which is intended to serve as a foundation for a larger budget deal. As part of the arrangement, Senate Majority Leader John Thune has promised Senate Democrats a vote in December on extending subsidies for the Affordable Care Act. Democrats will also have the opportunity to decide on votes for other policy extensions. If the agreement is finalized, furloughed federal employees will return to work and receive any unpaid wages.
