Core Foundation wins lawsuit against Maple Finance over competing product

Core Foundation, the project behind the Bitcoin-based, EVM-compatible Layer 1 public chain Core, has won a lawsuit against crypto lending protocol Maple Finance (MPL), The Block reported. A court in the Cayman Islands granted an injunction in favor of Core Foundation, which had accused Maple Finance of breaching a commercial contract. Core Foundation argued that after the two parties co-developed a Bitcoin yield product called IstBTC, Maple used Core's information and resources to begin developing a competing product, syrupBTC. This action, Core Foundation claimed, violated a 24-month exclusivity clause. As a result of the court's decision, Maple Finance is prohibited from launching its competing product and from trading CORE tokens.
