Binance altcoin volume share surges past 60%, BTC and ETH drop to 20%

Altcoins now account for over 60% of trading volume on Binance, the highest level since the beginning of this year, according to an analysis by CryptoQuant contributor Maartunn. In contrast, the combined trading volume for Bitcoin and Ethereum has shrunk to around 20%. Maartunn explained that market interest has shifted from major coins like Bitcoin to altcoins. He noted that this trend is driven by increased price volatility and a growing demand for short-term trading, which is shifting activity back into the altcoin sector. The contributor added that a surge in altcoin volume has historically occurred when speculative forces become more active, and the current market is showing a similar pattern.
