Barclays: Powell likely to lead Fed rate cut despite internal division
November 24, 2025, 3:15 AM
Investment bank Barclays has projected that Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell is likely to lead a move to cut interest rates, even as opinions within the central bank appear divided ahead of next month's policy decision. Barclays explained that based on recent statements, six voting Fed members may favor holding rates steady, while five could prefer a cut. However, the bank noted that it is very difficult for Fed members to publicly oppose the chairman's position, suggesting Powell will ultimately drive the rate decision.
