North Korean hackers have infiltrated as many as 20% of all cryptocurrency companies, said Pablo Sabbatella, founder of Web3 audit firm opsek, in an interview with DL News. He explained that between 30% and 40% of job applications received by crypto firms originate from North Korean hackers. Sabbatella noted that their strategy extends beyond simply stealing funds; they seek employment at legitimate companies to gain system access and operate crypto infrastructure directly. To circumvent international sanctions, they reportedly pay individuals in developing countries to use their account information for job applications.
