Florida court revives $80M lawsuit against Binance over BTC hack

A Florida appeals court has ruled that a lawsuit seeking approximately $80 million in damages from Binance can proceed, according to Bloomberg. The plaintiff, Jonny Chen, claims his BTC held on the exchange was stolen in a 2018 hack. A lower court had initially dismissed the suit, but Florida's Third District Court of Appeal overturned that ruling. The appellate court reasoned that California law could plausibly apply and that Binance cannot be automatically excluded from jurisdiction simply because it is an offshore exchange.
