CME crypto derivatives volume hit record $12B in 2025

The Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) Group's crypto derivatives trading volume reached an all-time high in 2025, according to CoinDesk. The average daily volume for the period was 278,000 contracts, valued at approximately $12 billion. CME stated that the growth was driven by record performance in its Micro Ether and Micro Bitcoin futures contracts. The exchange also noted that its overall average daily volume across all asset classes hit a record 28.1 million contracts, with cryptocurrencies being a major contributing factor.
