OKX obtains European payment institution license

OKX has secured a Payment Institution (PI) license in Malta, a move that satisfies European Union (EU) regulatory requirements set to take effect in March, CoinDesk reported. The license ensures OKX's compliance with the EU's Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation and the Second Payment Services Directive (PSD2), enabling it to continue offering stablecoin-related payment services across Europe. The exchange recently launched physical payment products, including OKX Pay and OKX Card.
