Bitcoin struggles to adopt quantum-resistant technology, says report

Bitcoin is struggling to adopt post-quantum cryptography to prevent its encryption from being broken by quantum computers, DL News reported. The outlet explained that while there is a growing view in the industry that quantum computers could crack BTC's digital signatures within three to five years, Bitcoin developers are divided on the timing and priority of an upgrade. Upgrading too early carries the risk that the new algorithm itself could be vulnerable, while waiting too long could result in the theft of users' BTC. The report also cited other obstacles, including the denial by some influential developers that quantum computers are a tangible threat and the difficulty of reaching consensus within Bitcoin's decentralized development structure.
