U.S. OCC conditionally approves Bridge's national trust bank application

February 17, 2026, 8:37 PM
The U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) has conditionally approved a national trust bank application from stablecoin infrastructure firm Bridge. According to CoinDesk, this will allow Bridge to issue and manage stablecoins under federal supervision. In December 2025, the OCC also conditionally approved similar applications from Circle, BitGo, and Ripple. Unlike commercial banks, trust banks must focus exclusively on fiduciary duties and related activities; they are restricted from taking general deposits or making loans.
