US Supreme Court rules Trump's reciprocal tariffs unlawful

The U.S. Supreme Court has ruled that President Donald Trump exceeded his authority by imposing reciprocal tariffs on countries worldwide under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act (IEEPA), Axios reported. The 6-3 decision upholds rulings from two lower courts that also found the tariffs unlawful. The judgment dismantles the legal foundation for the country-specific reciprocal tariffs that President Trump had levied on top of a 10% base tariff on global trading partners. However, it is widely anticipated that the president will seek alternative methods to impose tariffs.
