LTC founder: Satoshi's BTC will be first target of quantum attacks

March 13, 2026, 11:56 AM
Litecoin founder Charlie Lee has predicted that the Bitcoin holdings of anonymous creator Satoshi Nakamoto could be the first target of quantum computing attacks. In an interview with BeInCrypto, Lee stated that while Satoshi's identity remains unknown, the more than one million BTC he is believed to hold are the most vulnerable to such attacks because the coins are not properly protected. Lee added that if quantum computing becomes a reality, Satoshi's Bitcoin would likely be the first to be hacked. Satoshi is estimated to hold around 1.1 million BTC, and the early coins in this stash used P2PK scripts, which could make them more susceptible to quantum attacks. The possibility of Satoshi's holdings being compromised has been a topic of debate within the cryptocurrency community since last year.
