Iran has informed regional mediators that it plans to send a negotiating team to Islamabad on April 22 for a second round of talks with the U.S., The Wall Street Journal reported, citing sources. The Iranian government, however, has not officially confirmed the delegation's dispatch.
Confusion over the matter has grown after Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Baghaei stated at a press conference on April 21 that there were no plans for a second round of negotiations in Islamabad. Iranian President Pezeshkian previously highlighted a deep-seated historical distrust of the U.S. government, stressing that the Iranian people would not bow to force.
