South Korean crypto-related complaints surge 1,014% in 2025

April 21, 2026, 3:21 AM
The number of financial complaints filed with South Korea's Financial Supervisory Service (FSS) rose 10.4% to 128,419 in 2025, up from 116,338 in 2024. According to News1, this increase was primarily driven by a surge in complaints related to virtual assets, which skyrocketed by 1,014% from 403 in the second half of 2024 to 4,491 in 2025. The rise in complaints was attributed to issues such as the non-payment of promotional benefits for first-time API traders on virtual asset exchanges.
