AI16Z faces class-action lawsuit over false advertising, market manipulation

April 21, 2026, 3:09 PM
Developers behind the AI DAO AI16Z, which later rebranded to ElizaOS, are facing a class-action lawsuit for alleged false advertising and market manipulation, the crypto-focused law firm Burwick Law announced on its official X account. The plaintiffs allege that the developers misappropriated the brand of renowned venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z) to create a fictitious image of an AI technology startup. The suit, filed in the Southern District of New York (SDNY), further claims that the project was promoted as operating an AI agent with its own investment funds, while in reality, it was managed manually.
