April 24, 2026, 7:12 PM
The primary goal of talks between Pakistani and Iranian officials in Islamabad on April 25 and 26 is to restart negotiations with the Trump administration, Axios reported, citing a Pakistani government official. The official added that a decision on whether to proceed with trilateral talks involving the U.S. would be made after the meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi. Following the talks, Araghchi is reportedly scheduled to travel to Moscow via Muscat, Oman. The timing for a meeting with the U.S. negotiation team has not been confirmed. However, according to two sources, a meeting between a U.S. special envoy and Araghchi could take place on April 27. The sources also noted that the U.S. team, including Kushner and Witkoff, is expected to hold separate bilateral meetings with Pakistani mediators beforehand.
