Iranian President, Speaker call for Foreign Minister's dismissal over nuclear talks

April 30, 2026, 6:21 PM
Iranian President Pezeshkian and Speaker of Parliament Ghalibaf are calling for the dismissal of Foreign Minister Araghchi over his handling of diplomacy, particularly the nuclear negotiations, Iran International reported, citing two sources. They criticized Araghchi for following the orders of a Revolutionary Guard commander during the talks without reporting to the president. According to the sources, Pezeshkian and Ghalibaf believe Araghchi has acted more like an aide to Revolutionary Guard commander Ahmad Vahidi than a cabinet minister in recent weeks. President Pezeshkian has reportedly expressed strong dissatisfaction and told his aides that he will dismiss Araghchi if the situation continues.
