Three individuals have been indicted by a U.S. federal grand jury for stealing over $6.5 million in cryptocurrency, Cointelegraph reported. The suspects are accused of posing as delivery drivers to invade victims' homes in California between Nov. 22 and Dec. 31 of last year, where they allegedly used violence to steal seed phrases providing access to crypto assets. One of the four victims was reportedly forced to transfer $6.5 million worth of crypto to a wallet controlled by the assailants. The three suspects were arrested last December and are awaiting trial on charges including conspiracy to commit robbery, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, attempted robbery, and attempted kidnapping. Such violent crimes targeting crypto holders, known as "wrench attacks," are reportedly on the rise globally. In a separate case in France, 88 people were indicted on related charges this past April.
