US Treasury Secretary says no CBDC under Trump administration

U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has reiterated that there will be no Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) under the Trump administration, reported Eleanor Terrett, host of Crypto in America.
Terrett noted, however, that a temporary ban on a Fed-issued CBDC, included in a housing development bill passed by the House, is set to expire in December 2030. She added that some House members view this expiration as the de facto launch point for a CBDC. While Fed Governor Kevin Warsh has stated he would not permit the Fed to introduce a CBDC if he had the authority to stop it, his first term concludes in 2030.
