Stellar plans transition to quantum-resistant cryptography by end of 2027

The Stellar Development Foundation has announced a plan to migrate all Stellar accounts to a quantum-resistant signature scheme by the end of 2027, CoinDesk reported. The transition, which will be implemented through a protocol layer update, is designed to preserve existing wallet addresses and on-chain transaction histories. This move is a preemptive measure against the potential hacking risks posed by future quantum computers to current cryptographic signature algorithms. The foundation noted that users will not need to change their addresses or rebuild their transaction records during the migration process, ensuring both convenience and security.
