Google has announced a revision to its Chrome Web Store developer policy, effective Aug. 1, which will ban cryptocurrency mining extensions. The updated policy also prohibits extensions that support prediction market trading involving real funds, strengthens regulations on user data collection and use, and bans features designed to bypass AI service security. Google warned that it may take action, including removing non-compliant extensions from the Chrome Web Store, if developers do not adhere to the new rules by the deadline.
