CoinDesk: Bitcoin ETF inflows extend to 2nd week, but institutional return remains unclear

July 20, 2026, 6:32 AM
U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs posted net inflows for a second straight week, but the amounts remain too small to view as a recovery in institutional demand, CoinDesk reported. According to SoSoValue data, spot BTC ETFs drew $75.67 million last week and $197.4 million a week earlier. That followed eight straight weeks of net outflows totaling more than $8 billion. CoinDesk said the combined net inflows over the past two weeks were only slightly above the smallest weekly net outflow recorded during the previous eight-week stretch, which was $226.84 million. Until weekly net inflows consistently outpace the scale of recent outflows, claims that institutional capital has meaningfully returned to BTC are closer to expectation than data-backed evidence, CoinDesk said. Separately, digital asset research firm BRN said ETF flows should be watched first, adding that a net inflow trend would need to persist for several weeks before it could be seen as a signal of structural re-entry by institutional capital.
