South Korea’s Justice Ministry says it preserved $275M in illicit gains from crypto crimes

South Korea’s Justice Ministry said it booked 304 suspects and arrested 25 over the past year in financial, securities and virtual-asset crime cases, while preserving 381.4 billion won ($275 million) in illicit proceeds for forfeiture. According to a ministry press release issued today, the results covered the period from June last year through May 2026 and were led mainly by the joint investigation unit for financial securities and virtual-asset crimes at the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors’ Office and related teams.
