Hanwha Group has become the largest single shareholder in Securitize after securing a 9.6% stake, according to an Etoday report citing a U.S. SEC filing.
The group holds a total of 15,689,509 Securitize shares through affiliates and managed funds, exceeding Blockchain Capital’s 6.0% stake and co-founder Carlos Domingo’s 5.4% stake.
Securitize is an RWA infrastructure company that supports the issuance and distribution of traditional assets such as securities and funds, and it helps operate BlackRock’s tokenized fund BUIDL.
Hanwha Group has invested a total of 655.8 billion won ($473.6 million) this year in Xangle, Crithus, Digital Asset and Dunamu, building a Web3.0 portfolio spanning data, wallets, institutional networks, trading, custody and tokenization.
Hanwha Investment & Securities said the Securitize investment was not part of a group-wide joint strategy and described it as a pre-IPO financial investment. The company added it will review whether to sell when a disposal window opens, while leaving open the possibility of using the stake strategically in the digital asset and RWA sectors.
