Hungary scraps crypto transaction verification rule, issues first MiCA license

Hungary has scrapped a third-party verification requirement for cryptocurrency transactions and issued its first Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) license to a domestic company, Cointelegraph reported, citing local legal outlet Ado.hu. Hungary’s parliament passed a bill repealing third-party verification procedures that had applied to some crypto conversion transactions. The measure had been introduced under a crypto law enacted in 2024 and, from July 1, 2025, local time, required licensed verification agencies to confirm the origin of crypto assets, wallet ownership and customer information before issuing compliance certificates. Finance Minister Kármán András said the previous rules had caused confusion in the crypto market and led some operators to suspend services, adding that the requirement was withdrawn to ease market disruption.
