South Korea’s Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Koo Yun-cheol said virtual asset taxation should take effect as scheduled in 2027, with the system to be revised later if needed, Digital Asset reported.
Koo made the remarks at a full session of the National Assembly’s Strategy and Finance Committee on July 30. Koo said the government currently expects taxation to begin next year as planned. Koo added that stock investment losses are not carried forward and that some benefits are granted by classifying them as miscellaneous income, indicating the government could review the issue as needed after taxation is implemented.
