IBM CEO Arvind Krishna said quantum computing is moving beyond the research stage and nearing a commercial breakthrough capable of generating real revenue, CoinDesk reported. In an interview, Krishna said the technology is expected to make a meaningful contribution to IBM’s revenue and profit by 2028 or 2029. Krishna added the technology could create $1 trillion in economic value by the late 2030s and deliver performance far beyond conventional computers at a lower cost. IBM also announced in May plans to invest a combined $2 billion with the U.S. government to build a standalone quantum chip foundry.
