ElizaOS founder says ELIZAOS token is dead as foundation winds down

ElizaOS co-founder Shaw Walters said on X that the ELIZAOS token is effectively dead and the foundation is being dissolved.
Walters said the intellectual property belongs to Walters and Walters plans to start over from scratch, adding there will be no future link between Eliza and a token. Walters also said Walters became so consumed by coding that Walters developed frozen shoulder and suffered serious health problems from overwork, yet still faced criticism that the effort was never enough. Walters said the team built impressive products, but all of that was dismissed as the token price fell, and Walters was even accused of being a scammer.
Walters added Walters never sold AI16Z, ElizaOS' predecessor token, and never made money from the project beyond a reasonable salary. Walters said the value of Walters' AI16Z holdings once reached $25 million and could have been sold, but Walters did not sell and the balance ultimately fell to zero. Walters also said Walters will not return until the crypto industry's culture matures, criticizing crypto as complete garbage and saying Walters is bearish on the market.
ELIZAOS, which was rebranded from AI16Z, is currently trading at about $0.0003499. Its fully diluted valuation, which rose to about $2.6 billion in early 2025, now stands at roughly $3.85 million.
