Three scenarios emerge for CLARITY Act in U.S. Senate

CoinDesk said negotiations are still continuing over provisions related to combating illicit finance, agriculture-related language, and preventing crypto-related conflicts of interest among public officials, and added that the CLARITY Act could still pass in September if those issues are resolved. Against that backdrop, CoinDesk outlined three possible scenarios as the U.S. Senate has yet to decide whether to take up the bill:
- extending this week’s session to hold a procedural vote
- entering the August recess and revisiting the bill during the September session
- failing to advance the bill this year and postponing discussions until after the midterm elections
