Former SEC counsel says CLARITY Act still has a chance
August 07, 2026, 3:08 PM
Former U.S. SEC counsel Justin Slaughter, Paradigm’s vice president of regulatory affairs, said the CLARITY Act still has a chance of becoming law, even though the delay has significantly reduced its odds.
In a post on X, Slaughter said it should not be completely ruled out, adding there is still a short Senate window in the third week of September, during the height of the campaign season, and the bill needs to be handled during that period. Slaughter also said the industry must keep working to win support from policymakers and elite media, adding Washington policy remains heavily influenced by the press and many conservative opinion leaders still view crypto with skepticism.
