Bitcoin mining difficulty falls 18.5% from peak, biggest drop since China mining banBitcoin mining difficulty has fallen about 18.5% from the peak recorded on July 16, marking the biggest drop since China banned Bitcoin mining in 2021, according to Unfolded. Unfolded added that the decline is smaller than the 32% drop from peak levels during the 2018 bear market and the 45% drop seen in 2021. Historically, sharp declines in mining difficulty have often coincided with cycle bottom areas, it said. At the same time, if bearish conditions persist for an extended period, pressure on the mining industry could intensify and trigger capitulation selling. Conversely, if Bitcoin rebounds after miners finish capitulating, the correction could act as a catalyst for a bullish reversal.
