Bitcoin Core developer Luke Dashjr stripped of BIP editor role amid BIP-110 conflict row

Bitcoin Core developer Luke Dashjr was stripped of his Bitcoin Improvement Proposal editor privileges after a dispute over BIP-110 and allegations of conflict of interest. The move came after Murch of Bitcoin research group Localhost Research formally proposed Dashjr’s removal through a developer mailing list, saying Dashjr had lost neutrality as an editor during the handling of the controversial proposal, BIP-110, in which Dashjr was involved. Murch also alleged Dashjr exercised editorial authority in a biased way and repeatedly refused to coordinate with other editors, creating a serious conflict-of-interest issue. Just one day after the removal proposal, Dashjr’s editor and administrator privileges were revoked from the GitHub BIP repository. Dashjr dismissed the allegations as entirely false and denounced the decision as a clear abuse of power by some developers. BIP-110 is a proposal aimed at restricting the large-scale storage of data, including Ordinals and NFTs, on the Bitcoin blockchain.
