Coreum cross-chain bridge hacked, about 200K XRP stolen

August 12, 2026, 3:06 AM
A cross-chain bridge linking Coreum and the XRP Ledger was hacked on Aug. 9, with about 199,916 XRP stolen, Crypto Briefing reported. XRP held on the bridge fell to 493.5 from about 200,410 after the attack. The incident did not involve a breach of the XRP Ledger itself or any private keys, according to the report. Instead, the attacker exploited a vulnerability in the bridge’s deposit verification system, deceiving it into recognizing fake deposits as legitimate and releasing XRP. On-chain data showed 94 abnormal withdrawals over about 97 minutes. The Coreum bridge is currently offline, and the Coreum Development Foundation has not yet released an official incident report.
