Iran source says no talks under way on extending U.S. ceasefire

A senior Iranian source told Reuters there are currently no discussions at all on extending a ceasefire between Iran and the United States. The source said Iran does not see any need for an extension because, from Tehran’s perspective, the ceasefire has no effective start date, and added the United States violated a temporary agreement 48 hours after signing it before withdrawing from the deal a few days later. The source also said one of the issues under discussion is a U.S. return to the memorandum of understanding, or MOU, and setting a time frame for Washington to fulfill related commitments.
