August 13, 2026, 8:21 PM
A USENIX Security 2026 study identified 65,000 high-risk crypto addresses linked to $580 million in losses on Ethereum and BNB Chain, Wu Blockchain reported. The addresses were said to be associated with losses totaling 126,982.94 ETH and 17,726.7 BNB. According to the presentation, the attack paths behind the direct losses largely fell into two categories. One involved misuse of contract accounts and deterministic contract addresses, while the other exploited EIP-7702 to redirect compromised accounts to malicious code capable of transferring funds.
