Nearly $2.7B in shorts liquidated over the past 24 hours

Nearly $3 billion in futures positions was liquidated over the past 24 hours, with shorts accounting for most of the total. According to CoinGlass data, $2.9 billion in futures positions was liquidated during the period, including about $240 million in longs and $2.66 billion in shorts. Major cryptocurrencies were all trading higher, with BTC up about 7.5%, ETH up about 18.4%, SOL up about 11.8%, and HYPE up about 21%, amid reports that the U.S. Treasury could expand Treasury bond purchases and comments from U.S. President Donald Trump about a possible cryptocurrency purchase.
