IRS warns crypto holders of phishing impersonation scam

The U.S. Internal Revenue Service has warned of phishing attacks impersonating the agency and targeting cryptocurrency holders, CoinDesk reported. Attackers are using fake tax documents to prompt victims to scan malicious QR codes under the pretext of tax filing or account verification, with the goal of stealing crypto wallet login credentials and private keys.
