Thailand approves 4 financial market amendment bills, including digital asset law

August 25, 2026, 11:39 AM
Thailand’s government has approved four financial market law amendments aimed at strengthening Securities and Exchange Commission oversight and updating digital asset rules, Crypto Briefing reported. The revisions include the 2018 emergency decree on digital asset businesses, a key law governing cryptocurrency exchanges, token issuance and digital asset custody in Thailand. The amendments are intended to align digital asset regulations with current market conditions, while expanding the SEC’s authority to investigate major financial crimes and modernizing rules on the legal validity of electronic documents, fundraising and secondary markets. Separately, Thailand’s SEC has released draft rules for spot Bitcoin and Ethereum ETFs to be listed on the local stock market and has begun collecting public feedback. Comments are due by Sept. 20.
