Three major Russian telecoms to add digital ruble payments from Sept. 1

Russia’s major telecom operators MTS, Rostelecom and MegaFon plan to introduce digital ruble payments starting Sept. 1, Bits.media reported, citing Vedomosti. MTS will support digital ruble payments across all services linked to MTS Pay, while Rostelecom plans to begin with one-time payments on its official website before expanding usage. MegaFon also plans to add the digital ruble as an additional payment option. In Russia, large companies must be able to process digital ruble payments from Sept. 1, and apps from 12 major banks will also offer a function to open digital ruble wallets.
