MANTRA says security incident caused $3.6M loss
August 28, 2026, 11:01 AM
MANTRA said a security incident on Aug. 20 stemmed from a balance deduction flaw in the Cosmos EVM module, leading to the unauthorized outflow of about 721 million MANTRA from an on-chain burn address and a genesis multisig address. The project said a network upgrade froze 37.96 million MANTRA, while the rest flowed to exchanges.
According to MANTRA, authorities are now cooperating in the investigation, and no funds have been recovered so far. The MANTRA team added it will strengthen monitoring of abnormal accounts going forward.
