Stripe, Advent drop plan to acquire PayPal

Stripe and private equity firm Advent International have withdrawn their plan to acquire PayPal, Bloomberg reported. Stripe, an online payments infrastructure company, and Advent had initially offered about $53 billion, but the acquisition process was halted after private discussions, according to the report. Details on why the two sides dropped the deal were not disclosed.
