Bitcoin Core developer Luke Dashjr to leave mining pool OCEAN

August 31, 2026, 8:22 AM
Luke Dashjr, an early Bitcoin developer and co-founder of the OCEAN mining pool, is leaving the company, CoinDesk reported. Dashjr resigned as chairman, CTO and director, while parent company Mummolin bought all of his shares. Both sides said the split was by mutual agreement and stemmed from differences over recent changes to the Bitcoin protocol and the future direction of the mining industry. Dashjr plans to launch a new mining venture called Convoy. He was previously stripped of his Bitcoin Improvement Proposal editor privileges over allegations that he had lost editorial neutrality and exercised biased authority.
