Prediction market platform Kalshi has barred Republican U.S. House candidate Laurie Buckhout from trading for three years after Buckhout bet on her own election outcome, BeInCrypto reported. Buckhout, who is running against Democratic Rep. Don Davis in North Carolina’s 1st Congressional District, bought less than $1,000 worth of contracts tied to whether Buckhout would win.
Kalshi prohibits trading in event contracts by anyone who could directly or indirectly influence the outcome. Buckhout accepted the findings of the investigation and agreed to pay Kalshi $2,589.96, according to the report. Kalshi had previously permanently banned former U.S. Rep. George Santos over insider trading allegations.
