BNB Chain is exploring a structure that would let tokenized real-world assets serve as collateral while also generating yield, Crypto Briefing reported. Speaking at an event in Brooklyn, New York, BNB Chain Commercial Lead Thomas Chen said asset tokens should be used to produce real returns rather than simply being locked in smart contracts. Chen said BNB Chain currently has about $5.67 billion in tokenized real-world assets, including major tokenized products such as Circle’s money market fund token USYC, and said those assets can both back loans and provide additional income to holders. Chen added that the collateral yield model would help improve capital inefficiency in DeFi.
