a16z says blockchains need predictability, not just speed, for broader financial use

a16z Crypto said in a report that for blockchains to see broader use in financial markets, they need predictable and stable transaction processing in addition to high throughput. It said aggregate blockchain throughput has risen more than 100-fold over the past five years, but in actual financial markets, what matters more is whether transactions are included on time and processed under pre-defined rules. The firm added that if a specific operator can determine whether a transaction is processed or in what order, information asymmetry or MEV issues can emerge, and it stressed the need to ensure timely transaction inclusion and establish clear rules for processing order.
