September 10, 2026, 6:59 AM
Global cryptocurrency trading activity showed a clear recovery in August 2026, with spot volume on major centralized exchanges rising 18.64% from a month earlier and outpacing the 10.89% gain in perpetual futures volume, according to BlockBeats. The data points to a market recovery driven by spot buying. BlockBeats analyzed the increase as stemming more from higher trading frequency among existing users and improved conversion rates than from an influx of new users. Web traffic at major centralized exchanges fell 0.26% and app downloads dropped 5.61%, while trading volume climbed. Perpetual futures volume on decentralized exchanges also rose 8.98% from the previous month, marking a parallel rebound. By exchange, Binance held onto a clear lead with $233 billion in spot volume and $1.606 trillion in futures volume. OKX and Bybit followed. In spot trading, Coinbase rose to seventh and Kraken climbed to ninth. Among futures DEXs, Hyperliquid led the market with $207 billion in volume.
