Probe into hidden assets leaked to some subjects via crypto exchange: SBS

South Korea’s Korea Deposit Insurance Corp. investigation into hidden cryptocurrency assets was leaked to some of the people under review through a crypto exchange, SBS News reported. The breakdown in coordination between the agency and the exchange disrupted efforts to trace concealed assets, and critics said it could have become a major incident if the scale had been larger. According to the office of Democratic Party lawmaker Park Min-gyu on Sept. 14, the Korea Deposit Insurance Corp. has been investigating 8,405 people tied to failed financial institutions, including Busan Savings Bank, since April. Of those, 46 were notified in advance through a domestic won-based exchange that their cryptocurrency information had been requested.
