XRPL sets single-block record with 3,254 transactions

XRP Ledger, Ripple’s layer-one blockchain, recently set a record by processing 3,254 transactions in a single block, XRPL Foundation community leader and validator Vet said on X. Vet said XRPL does not have a fixed block size like Bitcoin and instead adjusts its transaction-processing target based on network conditions. When transaction volume surges and block processing remains fast, the network raises the number of transactions it can handle at once, but reduces that number again if processing time exceeds five seconds, Vet said. Vet added that most transactions in the block were simple transfers of very small amounts of XRP, which placed relatively little strain on the network. More complex activity, such as DEX or NFT trades, uses far more processing resources, making transaction count alone an incomplete measure of network capacity, Vet said. Vet also said the purpose of the large batch of transactions was unclear, though Vet estimated it was likely a throughput test.
