Bitcoin roadmap for quantum threat defense takes shape

Bitcoin’s roadmap to address potential threats from quantum computing is taking shape around Pay to Merkle Root (P2MR) and SHRINCS, according to Woo Blockchain.
BIP-360, which is currently in draft form, aims to introduce Pay to Merkle Root (P2MR) to reduce the risk of public keys remaining exposed for long periods. It also provides a foundation for a future shift to signature methods that can respond to quantum computing threats. Blockstream Research’s SHRINCS is a SHA-256-based hash signature scheme designed to work alongside that upgrade path. The goal is to allow users to move funds before quantum computers capable of posing a practical threat to cryptographic systems emerge.
