UK Lords pass amendment calling for national digital asset strategy

September 15, 2026, 2:57 AM
The UK House of Lords passed an amendment calling on the government to draw up a national digital asset strategy by a 194-138 vote, BlockBeats reported. Under the amendment, the Treasury would have to formulate and publish a national digital asset strategy and begin a public consultation within 12 months after the Financial Services and Markets Act takes effect. The strategy would cover digital financial assets including cryptocurrencies, stablecoins, central bank digital currencies (CBDCs), and tokenized securities. The bill containing the amendment is set to move to the House of Commons after its third reading in the Lords on Sept. 15.
